Forced labor

RKDco does not endorse or participate in any form of forced labor, whether in the form of prison labor, indentured labor, trafficked labor, bonded labor or otherwise. No employee may be compelled to work through force or intimidation of any form, or as a means of political coercion or as punishment for holding or expressing political views. We commit to create conditions for our workers so that:

  • No workers pay for their job
  • Workers retain control of their travel documents and have full freedom of movement;
  • All workers are informed of the basic terms of their employment before leaving home.

Child labor

We do not employ children who are less than 15 years old, or less than the age for completing compulsory education in the country of manufacture where such age is higher than 15.

Women’s rights

RKDco provides women workers equal remuneration, including benefits, equal treatment, equal evaluation of the quality of their work, and equal opportunity to fill all positions open to male workers. Pregnancy tests will not be a condition of employment, nor will they be demanded of employees. Workers who take maternity leave (of a duration determined by local and national laws) will not face dismissal nor threat of dismissal, loss of seniority or deduction of wages, and will be able to return to their former employment at the same rate of pay and benefits. Workers will not be forced or pressured to use contraception. Workers will not be exposed to hazards, including glues and solvents, that may endanger their safety, including their reproductive health.

Discrimination

RKDco does not discriminate in recruitment and employment practices. Decisions about hiring, salary, benefits, training opportunities, work assignments, advancement, discipline and termination are based solely on ability to perform the job, rather than on the basis of personal characteristics or beliefs, such as race, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, marital status, parental status, association membership, sexual orientation or political opinion.

Wages & benefits

Our workers wages exceed the minimum wage required by law and legally mandated benefits are provided. In addition to compensation for regular working hours, employees are compensated for overtime hours at the rate legally required in the country of manufacture or, in those countries where such laws do not exist, at a rate exceeding the regular hourly compensation rate.

Working hours

Our Employees are not required, except in extraordinary circumstances, to work more than 50 hours per week including overtime or the local legal requirement, whichever is less. Employees are always given at least 24 consecutive hours rest within every seven-day period and receive paid annual leave.

Freedom of association & collective bargaining

We respect the right of employees to join and organize associations of their own choosing and to bargain collectively.  We have developed and implemented mechanisms for resolving industrial disputes, including employee grievances, and ensure effective communication with employees and their representatives.

Disciplinary practices

All our Employees are treated with respect and dignity. No employee is subjected to any physical, sexual, psychological or verbal harassment or abuse or to fines or penalties as a disciplinary measure. We have a strict non-retaliation policy that permits factory employees to express their concerns about workplace conditions directly to factory management or to upper management without fear of retribution or losing their jobs.

Health & safety

A safe and hygienic working environment is always provided, and occupational health and safety practices which prevent accidents and injury are constantly promoted. This includes protection from fire, accidents and toxic substances. Lighting, heating and ventilation systems are all adequate. Employees have access at all times to sanitary facilities which are  adequate and clean. RKDco has health and safety policies which are clearly communicated to our employees.

Environmental requirements

RKDco is compliant with local and national laws regarding the environment, including regulatory agency requirements designed to limit consumer exposure to harmful chemicals

Facility security

RKDco has in place facility security procedures to guard against the introduction of non-manifested cargo into outbound shipments. Such items would include drugs, biological agents, explosives, weapons, radioactive materials, illegal aliens, and other contraband.
